Vintage Black Friday-Antique Tintypes

I love the look of "ancient ancestors" in any form or from any era. But I especially love the black patina of old tin types! They are timeless, even in their advanced state of age, and add such a wonderful aura to any little vignette.Sweet and chubby!
I love how this woman towers over this man!

These dudes look like miners or lumberjacks!

Such a stately fellow!

This guy is actually rather handsome~he probably had this taken for his sweetheart!

Heaven forbid you would crack a smile!

This young woman's hair was plated~and she really "filled out" her dress!

These are my contributions to Vintage Black Friday hosted by the French Cupboard!

Thanks for stopping by...hope you enjoyed your stay!!

Please come again!!

  1. I love old tintype pictures also. I have a double frame that holds my great great grandparents.

  2. I sure enjoyed your tintype pic's, I have tons of old family pic's that go back to the 1800's! I need to copy them to my computer and share them. Seems like there isn't enough hours in a day, what's a girl gonna do? Keep tryin' that's for sure! Thanks for sharing! XOXO

  3. Hahaha ~ I love the crackin' a smile comment. When did we start saying "Cheese " anyway? Lovely old photos - I look at mine sometimes and just wonder how different their lives must have been (and not all good).

  6. Hi Julie,

I love these tin types too...and you can tell that women, children and the men didn't know a whole lot about smiling for a photo.

I'm visiting for Vintage Black Friday...drop by! I'd love to have you visit.

    Happy Day,
    Stephanie ♥

  7. Your tin types are great. I often wonder about the ones in the photos and what their lives were like. The hair styles, fashion, and even the furniture in the photo are fun to check out. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I happened upon your blog from junkologie - I'm a multi media artist and I'm in the midst of a large project for an art show in 2 weeks where I match up a "story" with these old cabinet card photos, just like the kind you have featured...I'll post a few soon so you should check it out. And I love that you're from Wis - I am originally from Cedarburg!
    I'll visit again!
