I'm Takin' My Altered Suitcase to the Party!

I decided to come to the Altered Art Party hosted by the French Cupboard and I'm bringing along my altered suitcase.
I started out with a vintage suitcase that had good bones, but was stained and worn.

I ripped out all the lining and saved the pockets for future projects. Then scraped out all the "gunk" for a smooth surface.

Then proceeded to decoupage the sides and...

the inside too!

Now it's ready to display your favorite collection or vignette!!

Put something sweet on the inside!

Or lay a special arrangement of something you love on the top!

A makeover of a vintage piece that's very versatile and has a second chance at life!!

I don't consider myself an artist, but I really enjoy fun projects like this!

I'm anxious to go check out all the other projects at the party...

Thanks for stopping by...Julie

White in Every Room

Every room in my home has at least one little touch of white here and there. I have chosen some of my favorite white vignettes...let's go room by room... White pearly buttons in a pretty vintage jar marked Paris - New York on the bottom. And a sugar bowl pin-keep made by me. This sweet little grouping is in my craft room. I also happen to be in love with this little mirror-so versatile for vignettes!
My ever-growing collection of old clocks ~ also in my craft room.

One of my all-time favorites ~ white ironstone!!

This pristine arrangement is in my computer room.
This pitcher and bowl and little peek of my one and only yard long resides in my bathroom.

Cute little doggie figure and white topiary on my living room mantle.

I have one deep red wall in my dining room and it makes my white pitchers and little creamers really POP!!

I found these cute little animals at a shop this past spring. I'm not sure what they were from ~ an old toy farm perhaps. But I love them ~ so sweet!!

These barnyard babies live in my kitchen!

I'm sharing these whites in yet another celebration with Faded Charm's White Wednesday!!

Vintage Clocks

A short while ago, at one of my favorite junk shops, I found two old clocks that I thought would make great junk projects! My original intent was to take all the "innerds" out and then use them as display cases. So far I haven't had the heart to take this one apart. I cut the old cord off the back, but that's as far as I've gotten! I'm presently using it for a book-end!
Maybe someday I'll find something cool to do with it. But for now I'm enjoying just havin' it around!

This next one is in kinda' rough shape, so it should be an easier target for a make-over!

First, I took the face off and will save that for future use, or just sell it as is. Clock faces have really become a hot commodity!

Then I "stuffed" it with some vintage goodies that I had laying around. It really makes a cute little nook for what-nots!

I toyed with the idea of painting it black, but I may just stain over the scratches and leave it at that!

Pretty cute I think!

I'm linking up for the first time with Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday! Since I found these clocks out junkin' one day, I thought that qualifies!

Thanks for stopping by and now I'm off to get my linky and visit all the other thrifty blogs!!

Friday Morning Finds and Frustration!

I only had time this morning to hit 3 sales. Two were duds and one was pretty darn good! I managed to find some cool stuff at this one sale and the prices weren't bad either! Got these colorful pool balls! These work great as bowl fillers or in a big basket! I also found these Gurley candles, some are in better shape than others, but still cute!I especially like the turkeys!

~ A pretty Germany cup and saucer and old clock keys~

I think this is my favorite find of the day! I love this amazing feedsack quilt!

It's in excellent condition and has the most adorable patterns and colors!

I collect vintage feedsack and hope to make myself a yo-yo quilt someday! Maybe when I'm old and gray and have nothin' better to do!!

They also had this gorgeous buffet mirror ~ has the best frame and I love the etching in the center section!

So, not bad for one morning outing ~~ 1 outa 3 ain't bad!

And now for the frustrating part! I'm so mad I could just #%@!
For some reason Hotmail has been messin' with my email account! They say it's for security reasons. I can't get in it and I can't change anything, so I'm about ready to scream! So until further notice, please refrain from using the email address I've provided until I can get this thing straightened out or come up with a new one! If you need to contact me, just leave me a comment, I do check them quite often! Well, let's hope for brighter tomorrows!

This Little Piggy!

I was looking around my home in search of something for my White Wednesday post when I spotted my small pig collection in my kitchen. I only have a few of these cute little guys, but they pack alot of personality in their funny faces! I have this lone little pig shaker ~ he probably had a mate at one time.

Another lone little piggy shaker and a fun pig pitcher or creamer.

I'm thinking the maker of these is Shawnee.
Just the right amount of cold paint loss!

I have been collecting cookie jars for a long time and have 2 Shawnee pig ones.

This one's name is "Clover"!!

Not sure what I named this guy, but he has the most lovely, long eyelashes~don't ya think??

Perhaps not your typical shabby, lovely whites for this week's White Wednesday
at Faded Charm but white all the same!

I hope you enjoyed my fun pig collection and find a chance to stop over and check out all the other variations of the white we all love!!

Some time to rest!

My husband 's birthday is Sat. and we're heading off to our cottage for a few days for some much needed R & R. When you are a farmer, you "make hay when the sun shines" and he and my son-in-law just finished up 2nd crop hay. There are usually 3 crops in case you're wondering!

My daughter took this picture last summer and added the text via Picnik! I think she did a good job capturing the beauty that we see nearly every night from our side of the lake!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! See you next week!

Vintage Crinolines

My garage sale guardian angel was sitting on my shoulder again today when I stumbled on a sale on my way home from the grocery store that turned out to be pretty amazing!!! When I first walked up the driveway, I was not impressed with all the kid's stuff and electronics. And might I add that this was in a rather ritzy sub-division. I usually steer clear of areas like that, cuz they usually don't have the great old junk I'm looking for. BUT...on a table amidst the sweats, shorts and t-shirts were 4 sweet, adorable, vintage crinolines!!! My heart was going pitter-patter!!This one is my absolute favorite~~so darling ~ so 50's!!

This one has the softest pink embroidery around the seams~~LOVE it!!

This one has 3 layers of different types of lace. The top layer is kinda crinkly!

Thought I'd see how this one looked on my manny!!

I could see it with a tank top and a big belt (not on me, but on some tiny little thing!)

Then...on a big rack of clothes on hangers (another thing I usually avoid at sales!).....
Was this sweet-as-can-be vintage prom dress!!

The young lady selling these items said they were all her mother's! She had them hanging in her bedroom for years and decided to part with them! Lucky for me!!

There were 3 dresses total, but one was torn and the other had stains that perhaps being almost 60 years old would never come out! So I bought the best one of the 3.
Isn't this sweet?!?

I wasn't sure what I would post about this week for White Wednesday, but these crinolines and dress almost fell into my lap at just the right time!!

Make sure you visit Faded Charm this week and see all the other vintage whites!

Thanks for stopping by!

Please Excuse Me While I Brag!!

Please indulge me for a moment as I share some recent photos of my grandson!! I stole these from my daughter's Facebook album and they are my favorites~~Big inquisitive eyes!!
Sleepy time!

He is a good-natured, happy little guy that scrunches up his nose when he laughs!!
And you can tell he's well-fed by the size of those legs!!

Sittin' on grandpa's lap on the 4th of July!

~ Jackson and his mama, my daughter Sara~

Don't know if you can see it, but his pants were cow spots with this little tail comin' out the butt!!

~ My son Kevin with his little nephew~

Just chillin'

He often times has this serious, contemplative look when he's checkin' you out!!

Thanks for lettin' me get out my grandma's brag pics ~ he is the JOY of my life and I truly enjoy the 2 days a week he's at my house!

The child is not lacking in the love and affection department!!
