Some time to rest!

My husband 's birthday is Sat. and we're heading off to our cottage for a few days for some much needed R & R. When you are a farmer, you "make hay when the sun shines" and he and my son-in-law just finished up 2nd crop hay. There are usually 3 crops in case you're wondering!

My daughter took this picture last summer and added the text via Picnik! I think she did a good job capturing the beauty that we see nearly every night from our side of the lake!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! See you next week!

Vintage Crinolines

My garage sale guardian angel was sitting on my shoulder again today when I stumbled on a sale on my way home from the grocery store that turned out to be pretty amazing!!! When I first walked up the driveway, I was not impressed with all the kid's stuff and electronics. And might I add that this was in a rather ritzy sub-division. I usually steer clear of areas like that, cuz they usually don't have the great old junk I'm looking for. BUT...on a table amidst the sweats, shorts and t-shirts were 4 sweet, adorable, vintage crinolines!!! My heart was going pitter-patter!!This one is my absolute favorite~~so darling ~ so 50's!!

This one has the softest pink embroidery around the seams~~LOVE it!!

This one has 3 layers of different types of lace. The top layer is kinda crinkly!

Thought I'd see how this one looked on my manny!!

I could see it with a tank top and a big belt (not on me, but on some tiny little thing!)

Then...on a big rack of clothes on hangers (another thing I usually avoid at sales!).....
Was this sweet-as-can-be vintage prom dress!!

The young lady selling these items said they were all her mother's! She had them hanging in her bedroom for years and decided to part with them! Lucky for me!!

There were 3 dresses total, but one was torn and the other had stains that perhaps being almost 60 years old would never come out! So I bought the best one of the 3.
Isn't this sweet?!?

I wasn't sure what I would post about this week for White Wednesday, but these crinolines and dress almost fell into my lap at just the right time!!

Make sure you visit Faded Charm this week and see all the other vintage whites!

Thanks for stopping by!

Please Excuse Me While I Brag!!

Please indulge me for a moment as I share some recent photos of my grandson!! I stole these from my daughter's Facebook album and they are my favorites~~Big inquisitive eyes!!
Sleepy time!

He is a good-natured, happy little guy that scrunches up his nose when he laughs!!
And you can tell he's well-fed by the size of those legs!!

Sittin' on grandpa's lap on the 4th of July!

~ Jackson and his mama, my daughter Sara~

Don't know if you can see it, but his pants were cow spots with this little tail comin' out the butt!!

~ My son Kevin with his little nephew~

Just chillin'

He often times has this serious, contemplative look when he's checkin' you out!!

Thanks for lettin' me get out my grandma's brag pics ~ he is the JOY of my life and I truly enjoy the 2 days a week he's at my house!

The child is not lacking in the love and affection department!!

Latest Finds!

I went to the mall today to pay my rent and putter in my booth. Like I usually do, I took a look around to see if any of the other dealers brought in anything new! I spotted this gorgeous plateau mirror in one booth and decided it needed to come home with me!! Also spotted the sweet little salt and pepper set!
When I was finished there I stopped at an estate sale and found this cute little chair with the perfect shade of old blue paint!

Gorgeous old books ~ fabulous covers!!

They also had a small collection (5) of vintage children's tin litho typewriters. I couldn't afford to buy them all, so I picked the 2 that I felt had the best color and graphics~and at a decent price too!

Too cute!!

Also found some crosses for future jewelry projects...these were a steal!!

And you can never have enough lace!!

I love tatting and I wish I knew how to do it ~ it's a lost art!

Two vintage games with nice colorful graphics!

I love anything with old letters
and colorful game pieces!

I hadn't been to any sales for a few weeks, so this was a refreshing day of catching up on some good junkin'!!

****Hope everyone is having a good week****

Pretty Pictures

I can be rather fickle when it comes to the things that I collect or even just admire. I am constantly changing my displays at home, getting bored on a regular basis with the same old-same old!! One of my most current objects of affection are vintage photos in gorgeous frames--namely old gold! This one is so lovely and I absolutely love the curly-Q on the top of the frame! Her necklace reminds me of so many of the new jewelry pieces being made by some of the talented bloggers out there!
She has such a sweet expression on her face-almost one of shyness!

I like them paired together!

I've shown this picture in the past, and am holding on to her for awhile because I love the grainy, worn appearance ~ so feminine!

Usually wedding photos aren't this "pretty"!! Commonly they are dark and rather grim looking. I love the dresses these ladies are wearing. I also wonder whose the bride and groom of these 2 couples?!?

And of course, this is my all-time favorite that I've shown before as well. It is the picture that I love the most in my home! (For now anyhow!)

Mother and daughter in a lovely garden!

These are my offerings this week for White Wednesday with Kathleen over at her blog
Faded Charm. This is quickly becoming a linky event that I really look forward to! So many beautiful whites to view that it takes me the rest of the week to see them all! Enjoy!!.......Julie

The response I received exceeded my expectations ~ I went from 50 to 83 followers in a week!! WOW!! Pretty good for a beginner like me!!Now, here's the system I used to choose my winner. I wrote all entrants down with all of their chances, then I numbered them all. Then I cut up little pieces of paper and numbered them as well.
I placed them all inside the cracker tin that the winner will receive--stirred it around real good and reached in to pull out a number!!

And the winning number--#49
belongs to
Thespa of Vintiquities Workshop!!!!!
Congratulations, Thespa!! I hope you enjoy all the goodies I put together for you!! When you get the chance, shoot me an email with all your mailing info and I will send out your winning package! Black Friday--All Caged Up!

I love the look of displaying things under glass, like cloches or bell jars. One of my recent finds was an old black bird cage, and I thought it would be a great variation on that "under glass" theme! It looks fabulous with my aged silver pieces and an old dresser mirror beneath!!
You can easily change up the vignettes inside~this one is my particular favorite.

This old silver tray is a perfect base too!

How about a live plant?

Or vintage clocks!

I like the look of these too!

I'm joining in the Vintage Black Friday link party with the French Cupboard!

Make sure you take a minute to visit all the other lovely blogs participating!

And...Don't forget about my 100th post giveaway!! The deadline to enter is 5pm (central time) Friday, July 2nd! I will be announcing the winner sometime in the evening after 8pm! Good luck and thanks for visiting!!!
