SWEET NOTHINGS

Sometimes just the littlest things can make a BIG impact in a vignette or a collection! I like to call them "SWEET NOTHINGS"!!
Like these adorable chalk girl and boy bookends~~charming!

I think this little lady was the top of a pincushion back in the day~~

Little emery strawberries and tomatoes were filled with sand so your needle was sharpened each time it was pulled out to use. Sweet little photo of my husband's aunt.

Delicate little transferware cup and saucer.

My two pieces of majolica that I just love!! I bought the plate as a "souvenier" on a trip to Georgia a few years ago.

Darling little earthen bowl~~soft reddish-pink color!
I love this darling little tape measure with the tulips on the top. I am drawn to old sewing items and have several darning eggs and am up to about 25 pincushions!!

The covers of these vintage books are so romantic and appealing~~
These simple "sweet nothings" adorn my vignettes and make me smile nearly everyday!*!

SNOW DAY

We had a dandy snow storm here in Wisconsin yesterday and I thought "what can I accomplish today?" or better yet-what do I FEEL like accomplishing today? How about blogging and furniture re-arranging?! So I decided to do some more cleaning and re-arranging in my craft room. Sounded good to me at first, but my back sure was aching at the end of it all!! It's not so much just moving stuff around in that room--but I opened a can of worms when I decided to take a few things from other rooms as well! Geesh!! After all was said and done I was very pleased with the outcome!
One of my many pincushions on top of...

my many picnic tins. These are all empty, but am thinking they could perhaps be used for storage if needed.

My craft table~~actually looks pretty good. Sometimes it's almost "invisible"!!

Hauled this beast in from my kitchen. I needed more storage and it wasn't being utilized with anything too important in there, so I now have crafting supplies in it. Put some outdoorsy-gardeny stuff on it to go with this garden theme I've got going on in this room.

My sewing corner. Love the nice light that comes in here in the morning.

This is my corner for reading, hand-sewing and TV watching. I'm not in love with this chair, but it works fine for now. The denim is actually pretty durable. Don't you love the light I have pouring into this room? I love being in here, especially in the A.M. (and at night when the hubs is watching the hunting channel or sports!!)

I really got alot done yesterday (explains why I was so tired last night)! Got some long-lost projects done and finally got around to starting this poor dilapidated wicker table. It's got good bones and a nice look-but it leans a little to the left!! Just adds to its charm. So I decided to decoupage the top...

with some vintage apple pictures from an old garden catalog. I think I like it!! Until the next snow day~~

BABY LOVE

We had the most wonderful baby shower for my eldest daughter on Saturday!! Everything turned out perfectly~~good food, good fun and good conversations! Sara also got alot of great gifts for baby and her nursery is really shaping up! Grandpa and I purchased her crib and a beautiful dresser to match. There is some artwork to be done on one wall yet and then it should be complete. I'll probably have some pics of that coming sometime soon. Her theme is adorable farm animals!

Here I am with my beautiful daughter, Sara!

What a gorgeous mama!!

Me and both my daughters~Sara and Kim

Gotta love the cow balloon!! The shower was held in our church basment. We really had a wonderful day!! Now to wait out the rest of the winter until April 1st~~tentative birth date for baby!!!

Quiet Past Times

I have been so inspired by many of the blogs I follow lately! There are some really creative women out there in Blogland~~ So with these quiet, dreary wintery days all around me, I'm trying to stir up some ambition and creative juices! The following pics are all hand-made by me! This is my first real attempt at a collage using an old gold frame I found lying around. I feel it was a fairly successful try***
The little tag on top was from a vintage dictionary--the definition of "CHILD"

A sweet little pincushion in a $1- "as is" teacup

Found this cutest dolly bunk-bed at an antique mall nearby and made 2 little mattresses and pillows for it!!

"sweet" little hand-stitched pillow

vintage B-I-N-G-O card valentines

Found this pretty box at Jo-Ann Fabrics the other day. I haven't found a use for it yet but I really love it! Future grandbaby photos perhaps?!?
Except for the lovely box all items will soon be for sale at the Red Rooster!! More projects await me to while away the winter~~~

My Best Friend--St. Vinny!!

St. Vinny has proven to be one of my best friends lately!! I discovered one about 40 miles south of me that had 50% off the entire store on Sat.!!! The place was a zoo and I didn't get there until 11:00! Found lots of pretty smalls including these hobnail milk glass vases and the darling little heart shaped ring box~~
Also found this delicate porcelain flower basket. You can tell it was handmade because there are fingerprints on the petals and leaves!!

One of my major weaknesses is children's things and I found this adorable handpainted dolly dresser. Just love the little ducks pulling the bunnies!! I was feeling venturesome on Sat.--and I ended up in Beaver Dam at their antique mall after hitting the thrift store. That's where I found the dresser and the sweet vintage rosary~~~

as well as the old framed photograph and the soft felt Easter egg--gonna try to make some of these. I also stumbled on a real cute shop called The Dusty Attic. The shop owner was a real nice lady and after we got to chatting, I discovered to my delight that she's been in our store!!
This is a good hour or more drive for her...but she spoke of it fondly!! Ahhh, music to my ears!!

The gorgeous vintage hat and mirror were from her shop. It may seem sinful, but I'm considering cutting the flowers off this hat for some craft projects!! The color of them is so soft and perfect for embellishing!*!

I got this vintage fan for a song...and don't you just adore this little mirror?
I thought I needed these grocery store tulips to bring some spring into my day!!

I want my blog title inside the little tag by the birdie and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it!!!! I've decided I want to change my blog background, etc. once a month and it's become this maddening obsession--kinda like an itch you just have to scratch!*! so if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it.
