Elkhorn Flea Market

After not being at the Elkhorn Flea Market for about 3 years, I had forgotten what an excellent one it was!! No Junk--at least not the tacky kind!! Only the kind we love & crave! Here are some of my favorite things I spotted. I love the way the dealer displayed all the vintage items on this shelf...and I loved the color! So~~it came home with me!!
This cast iron urn and base were amazing--but $325- was a little too steep for me!!

I debated about buying this sign for my hubs to put up in our barn somewhere...but I didn't think he'd appreciate my humor!!

Why is all the cool stuff always marked SOLD?!?

I made my way to the animal barns first in search of my blogging "peeps". And on the way I ran into the Iowa Junk Gypsies. Their double booth was full of unusual, gardeny stuff~with a sorta botanical-like feel to it! I loved their displays.

One of the things on my to look for list was a dress form, and these gals had one, but while I was hemming and hawing some other lady came along and bought it!! Oh well, snooze and you lose!!

Very pretty garden items vignette! It was great to meet these talented ladies!

Then in the cattle barn I got to meet Joan of Anything Goes Here!

Her booth was chuck-full of cool, very creative stuff she made with vintage items. I bought one of her unusual photo holders~will post about that next time!
Joan was a super-nice lady and am so glad I took the time to stop and chat for a bit! She was very busy and flitted around like a little bird, and her almost empty booth proved how successful this show was for her!!! Great meeting you Joan!!

Next, in another barn I got to meet Jan of Gracie's Cottage and I think I found a new, true blogging friend~~one of only a couple I know from Wisconsin!!!!

Her booth was so fun and I LOVED her displays like this big scoop full of paper shreds and doorknobs~~Just loved this!!

She also had clever "SOLD" tags using scrabble tiles~~way cute!!

I purchased a bunch of black letter tiles from her--very graphic and fun!!
Will be using them in some future projects!
I look forward to getting to know Jan better and hope to see her again at some more shows!!

My next post will be about the stuff I brought home with me and the vignettes I put together to share them with you!
Until then....happy junkin'

I promised to show the rest of the good stuff I found at my cousin's sale the other day! So here is the rest of what I bought. I think this little wagon was for toys, I'm not sure...but it sure is cute! Got a really good deal on these old lawn chairs--$3- each!!!

cute retro cannister set

I just love these little rompers~sweet little tucks and embroidery
...and darling little bibs too!

I really enjoyed this sale--lots of cool stuff and visiting with my cousins that I don't get to see very often was the icing on the cake!!

My Cousin's Sale & Success!!!

Once again, my blogging friends came through for me and helped me out!! And as you can see, I have successfully gotten the picture that I wanted for my header!! Yaaaaay for me!!!! A big thank you to Cheryl for her advice and suggestions!!
So...now that I have all that stuff settled!! I went to a great sale yesterday held by a couple of my cousins and their daughters. They each have their favorite collections and were thinning them out--to my benefit of course! So here are some pics of the stuff I picked up....
I found these awesome porcelain house numbers.
They also had tons of pottery and shabby stuff like this plaster floral wall plaque and the cute basket.
The cute little duck is one of three...

I just love the little white one!!!

~More pottery~

I also found tons of linens, an old suitcase, a sweet retro pink and black cannister set,
a pair of shabby lamps and an adorable circus wagon toy box on wheels.

Since my computer is a cross between a turtle and a dinosaur~~I thought these pics were enough for now since it took me FOREVER to get these on !!! Maybe next time! I'm heading to the Elkhorn Flea Market on Sunday. Since I haven't been to this one for like 3 years, I have quite a list of stuff I'm hunting for. Wish me luck!!

White Wednesday & a BIG Thank You!!

WELL, I ASKED AND YOU ANSWERED!! THANKS TO THE SWEETIES WHO COMMENTED BACK ON MY LAST POST WITH THEIR ADVICE ON COMPUTER SOFTWARE THAT THEY USE. I CHECKED OUT PICNIK (THANKS DEBRA) AND THINK MAYBE THIS COULD BE FUN!!!!
I JUST SPENT THE LAST COUPLE HOURS PLAYING AND CAME UP WITH A FEW PHOTOS JUST IN TIME FOR WHITE WEDNESDAY WITH FADED CHARM
I'VE SHOWN THIS VIGNETTE BEFORE, BUT SOFTENED IT UP A LITTLE...

AND THESE WHITE PITCHERS ARE IN MY BATHROOM. THE PEAR PLATE WAS MY GRANDMOTHER'S~AND I FOUND THE LITTLE CREAMER TO MATCH!!

SO NOW THAT I FOUND ANOTHER NEW TOY~I'LL NEVER GET OFF THIS COMPUTER!! OH WELL--IT KEEPS ME OUT OF THE BARS!!!
HAPPY WHITE WEDNESDAY!!

ADVICE PLEASE!!

I BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT A NEW CAMERA YESTERDAY AND WE'RE STILL GETTING AQUAINTED!!
THIS ROSE WAS IN MY BOUQUET OF FLOWERS THAT I RECEIVED FROM MY GRANDSON FOR MOTHER'S DAY! THEY WERE JUST BEAUTIFUL!
NOW.....MY QUESTION IS--DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE EITHER PHOTOSHOP, PAINT SHOP OR SOME OTHER COMPUTER SOFTWARE THAT THEY USE FOR THEIR BLOG? HOW EASY IS IT TO USE, WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT AND IS IT WORTH THE MONEY???? I PURCHASED PAINT SHOP WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAMERA AND KEEP STARING AT THE BOX, AFRAID TO OPEN IT!! 'CAUSE ONCE I DO-I CAN'T RETURN IT!!
I WANT TO BE SURE IT'S WORTH THE $100 I PAID FOR IT! ALL I WANT TO USE IT FOR IS TO SOFTEN UP MY PICTURES, MAYBE ADD SOME BORDERS AND SOME PRETTY TEXT. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ANYONE HAS TIME TO OFFER...
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT MOTHER'S DAY--I DID!!!

THE COLORS OF MY WORLD-PINK IS FOR MOTHERS

SINCE MY CAMERA IS STILL "UNDER THE WEATHER"-I DECIDED THAT IN ORDER TO COMPLETE MY COLOR THEMED SERIES OF POSTS I WAS GONNA HAVE TO FIND SOME IMAGES ELSEWHERE!
SO I'M DOING THESE LAST 2 TOGETHER IN HONOR OF MOTHERS--ESPECIALLY MY MOTHER.
...AND SINCE TOMORROW JUST HAPPENS TO BE HER 79TH BIRTHDAY, I FOUND THESE GORGEOUS VINTAGE BIRTHDAY IMAGES!

AND I SCANNED MY TWO FAVORITE PICTURES OF HER!!

THIS ONE SHE IS ABOUT 16 AND SO VERY STYLISH, DON'T YOU THINK?

AND THIS ONE I DO BELIEVE SHE IS ABOUT 5 OR 6!
SHE CAME FROM A FAMILY OF 11 AND I'M SURE THIS COAT WAS A HAND-ME-DOWN A FEW TIMES OVER!

MY MOM ALSO RAISED A BIG BROOD!! I HAVE 4 BROTHERS AND 4 SISTERS AND I'M RIGHT SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE!
WE NEVER WENT HUNGRY AND OF COURSE I WORE THE HAND-ME-DOWNS OF MY TWO OLDER SISTERS!! BUT I NEVER WANTED FOR ANYTHING AND HAVE SOME WONDERFUL MEMORIES GROWING UP IN THIS BIG, CRAZY FAMILY! MY MOM COULD STRETCH A DOLLAR FROM HERE TO ETERNITY!
WHEN I THINK OF MOM, THOUGH -I THINK OF FLOWERS!! AS I MENTIONED IN MY GREEN THUMB POST (THURS.) SHE ALWAYS HAD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND STILL DOES. THAT IS WHY I LOVE THEM AND BOTH OF MY DAUGHTERS LOVE THEM AS WELL!

SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!
I AM PROUD TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER!!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!!
