The new girl in town!

I mentioned in my last post that I have been cleaning, re-arranging and purging around here lately. Well the main reason behind all the sprucing up in my sewing/craft room at least, was to make room for my latest purchase... this vintage beauty!!
She's made of gorgeous, amber-colored velvet and is worn to perfection!! I bought her from another dealer in the antique mall I'm in. And I think I love her!!!!!!

Perfect for displaying my junk jewelry
and for photo shoots for my etsy listings.

These necklaces are my latest creations and I will be listing some of them soon, and maybe taking one or two to the mall or The Red Rooster.

I also added another pincushion to my collection. I bought this beauty from another dealer too! I love these "half doll" types...and am always looking for more!

I also wanted to share my latest etsy purchase too! This yummy, gorgeous seam binding was hand-dyed, aged and is now sheer perfection! I can't wait to start creating with it!
I bought it from French market's shop just in case you want some of your own!

And of course, I love their Paris tags too!

I want to give my new dress form a name, so if anyone has a good suggestion, let me know!
I'm planning on giving her a good home for a long, long time!!

I decided last minute to join in a new linky party for the first time over at Savvy Southern Style for Wow us Wednesdays! Kim has quite a list of blogs that are ready to WOW you, so head on over and check it out!!!

  1. She's gorgeous, I've not seen a brown velvet girl before, oooh la la!! Love your jewelry, Julie, so pretty!

  2. Ooh, I love your girl, she looks good in the brown velvet. Love your beautiful jewelry pieces too.

  3. Oh she's beautiful! I've wanted a vintage/antique dress form for so long, but not really ready to shell out so much cash for one. The hand-died seam binding is gorgeous!

  4. Very cool dress form ~ how about Amber Velvet??of just Amber or Velvet.. or Velvet Amber..guess I'm stuck on those 2 words. Your pin cushion doll is lovely. I have some, but no cushion part...

  5. Julie I love your gal, she is beautiful. I think her name should be "Jewels" since that
is what she will be modeling. I have a lady
    mannequin,Victoria,a vintage lady's dress form,
a vintage man's dress form, and a head bust
which I named Myrtle. They all reside in my
sewing room except Myrtle and she has a spot
on my dresser. I would love to send you some
pics but this computer won't let me e-mail you.
I had to get a new one and it doesn't have the
program on it so I can e-mail people if I don't already have their e-mail. I hope that
makes sense. Please e-mail me and I will send
    the pics.
I love your jewelry you made, very pretty.

  6. Julie, gotta love that dressform. She's a beauty! That's the first one like that I have seen. judy

  11. OH Julie...she is a beauty! I love the wonderful velvet~ I have not seen one like this either! Definitely a keeper!

  12. I have been to the Red Rooster and it is a great little shop! What Antiques Mall do you sell at? I am also in Wisconsin and often times my Husband and I will pick an area and see what we can find. Would love to visit your booth.

  13. The new girl is town is a real looker! I'm sure you'll give her a good home. If it'd been me she would have drool stains now! Love the name suggestions so far. But Jewels would be a great name for your alter ego!
